The volume titled Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Œuvres complètes, tome 1, published in 2021 by the French publisher Albin Michel, raises certain questions. It is not likely that the publisher envisions the publication in French translation of the 37 volumes of the German edition. Besides, the decision to reprint older translations, from the 1950s and  1960s, of the four novels contained in this new volume is debatable, since these translations are somewhat arduous and often do not adequately convey, on several levels, the original texts of the writer and thinker.
