Is Pentecostalism a Mystical Tradition?

Reflexions on a Pentecostal Understanding of Christian Experience

Ruben Binyet

Abstract

Through an engagement with recent contributions in Pentecostal theology, the author seeks to show how applying the concept of “mystical tradition” to Pentecostalism, in a heuristic experiment, might imply some changes to the concept of the “mystical” itself. These changes are related to the communal, apocalyptical and missional emphases that are characteristic of the Pentecostal imagination.
