Casimir, Earl of Sayn-Wittgenstein and the Reception of Pierre Poiret’s Editions in Berleburg

Xenia von Tippelskirch

Abstract

This article ponders the reception of Pierre Poiret’s editions in the Pietist separatist circles of Berleburg. Thanks to the manuscripts kept in the archives of Berleburg Castle, it is possible to reconstruct the spiritual experience of Count Casimir von Sayn-Wittgenstein, the author of a translation of the twenty volumes of Mme Guyon’s Holy Bible published by Poiret in 1713-1715.
