Teilhard de Chardin Theologian?

François Euvé

Abstract

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was not a theologian by profession, but his work was mainly received – and sometimes contested – in the religious field. He did not claim to propose a systematic reflection but to renew Christian thought in order to bring it into line with scientific knowledge. Thus, theology must become a permanent research. Despite some limitations, especially on the question of evil, his thought can remain inspiring for the work of the theologian. In the dialogue with the sciences, a “new face of God” is revealed.
