Abstract

Élie Vinet, headmaster of the College de Guyenne from 1556 to his death in 1587, has commented and wrote a lot of publications. Through these writings and their prefaces, we can see how Vinet was working and notice what were his tools. We can also find out the interactions and the mutual benefits between his teaching customs and his philological and archaeological research works. Indeed, he was from his time admitted as a great text editor and talented professor: combining these two characteristics, Vinet preserved, as scholar, particularities, namely a specific attraction for mathematical Sciences as well as for antiques of Aquitaine.
