From the middle of the sixties, French publishing of American mainstream comic books entered a new era of stability and continuity, thanks to a few publishers like SAGE, Artima-Arédit and Lug. Facing the censorship institutionalized by the law of July 16^th, 1949, those publishers belonging to a small, if not underground market tried to adapt American comic books to the French context. With various anthological publications, the publishing houses attempted to make their comic books more similar to the Franco-Belgian album all the while internalizing the views of the Surveillance Commission as to what could and could not be shown to the youth, thus finding a way to ensure the continuity of their work until the end of the eighties.
